Accurate, fast, and easy-to-understand mould testing.
Mould testing is an important part of the process of ensuring that your property has a clean and healthy environment after a water damage event or remedial work to cure a condensation problem. Confirmation that effective mould remediation has been completed provides peace of mind and an audit trail for management organisations and building users.
Why is mould testing important?
—— Mould is a symptom of a damp issue.
Mould spores are microscopic; the colony is well established when you can see mould growing. Simply cleaning the mould will not fix the problem!
Testing for mould growth will provide the necessary information to focus on potential airborne contaminants that pose a hazard to health. Mould hidden behind walls and under floors may be affecting indoor air quality.
Our robust testing regime will provide guidance on the presence of mould and identify if there is mould growth or an issue with the quality of the cleaning process.

When to test for mould contamination?

After a Flood or Storm Event
Flooding and Storm events can saturate building materials providing the perfect environment for mould growth. Mould will affect the materials that it grows upon and the indoor air quality.

Post Mould Remediation/Cleaning
Mould remediation is expensive and disruptive. Ensure that the job has been completed to a high standard by having a Post Remediation Verification completed. This will highlight the efficacy of the remediation process.

After a Water Leak or Moisture Damage
Water leaks may go undetected for many months or years. When the leak has been repaired if drying has not been completed properly, moisture will still be available to facilitate mould growth.

Unattributed Health – Breathing Problems
If occupants of the building experience breathing, allergy or other adverse health symptoms due to possible airborne contaminants, our Mycometer FAI air sampling may be able to offer an indication as to the cause.
Other factors to take into consideration

Identification of the moisture source
Mould is a symptom of excess moisture. It is vitally important to identify and remove or reduce the excess moisture to prevent future mould growth. A qualified water damage expert should identify and propose a drying plan to remedy the excess moisture and prevent future mould growth.

Why we recommend a surveyor inspect the property
A surveyor will be able to test and establish if there are deficiencies in the property’s heating, insulation or ventilation, which may lead to condensation. Specialised knowledge of building construction and building materials allows for a holistic approach to curing mould problems.

The limited use case for sending off samples in the mail
There has been an interest and growth in the self-sample and send-off of samples for mould testing. This method can be prone to user error, and the results if taken in isolation of other factors affecting mould growth will be of little practical value in permanently curing the mould problem.
